2 Months in

Well the salon has been open for just about 2 months now and business is picking up, I can honestly say that setting up my own business was the best decision I have ever made.

Now I wont sit here and tell you that it has been an easy couple of months because it hasn't and it still isn't easy but it is getting easier. My parents and husband have been ultra helpful and supportive and if anybody who is reading this is thinking of setting up on there own the main advice I would offer is to make sure you can afford it and that you have a good support network because with that you can achieve anything.

2 months of leaflet dropping and handing out business cards does however seem to be paying off a little now,I have started to get repeat customers so they must like what I do and hopefully they will tell there friends about me and then I can be fully booked Monday to Saturday every week.

I will leave this little celebration post with some pictures of the salon and building that it sits in. Oh its a celebration because we haven't gone under and we are getting customers more and more every week.

Thanks for reading and tell your friends to read it too please x

As you can see the salon is coming along nicely I will now show you a few shots of the rest of the building.

I absolutely love my little salon and the building it is in and I am sure you will agree that it looks a fabulous place to come and get a treatment.

I hope to see you all soon x

St Marys Catholic Primary School

On Saturday 21 May 2011 I attended a summer fete at st marys catholic primary school in congleton. I wasn't their doing nails or makeup but i went and was doing glitter tattoos for children, I suppose adults could have them if they wanted but kids seem to love them. Fans of my Beautique salon shouldn't worry this isn't going to be my new venture.

I went to the school because I don't live in Congleton or even near the area so I can't talk to mums in the playground and my kids can't tell school friends about the salon. I went with an open mind of what it would be like and I wasn't even bothered about making money but with every youngster I saw I gave the mum some info about the salon, this is probably the best bit of marketing I've done and it was so simple and enjoyable I will now be sending Stuart out to fairs and fete's all summer spreading the good word of Beautique while making a little bit of extra money.

What I did on Saturday helped me realise that some of the most simple ideas are good for marketing. So if you are at a fair or a fete this summer and see a man doing glitter tattoos don't be alarmed It's probably only Stuart.

Don't tell him if you see him but he is available for hire for children's parties or music festivals :)

I hope you enjoyed this latest installment of my blog.

Airbase foundation & Airbrush machine

Well, I went to a beauty exhibit in Manchester and I saw a company called Airbase advertising their products.  I got to try it out myself and what can i say, I instantly fell in love! (and ordered one there and then)

I like quite a bit of foundation, so I assumed this would not work out for me.  How wrong I was!  The foundation can be applied lightly or you can 'layer' it on for more coverage.  Either way, you will get a fabulous flawless result.  As the foundation is lightly sprayed onto the skin, you will not end up with foundation lines and it blends to the natural skin tone perfectly.  It is also great for covering tattoos.

Perfect for weddings, proms, parties, special occasions...pretty much everything!!!  It is guaranteed to last all day and it does not disappoint - It is also tear-proof and smudge-proof.

They use Airbase in Granada Studios and on other TV and film sets.  Professionals call it 'high-definition' makeup as even under hot lights and close camera shoots, the skin will still look fab!

Anyway, just wanted to spread my love on Airbase...If you tried it, you'd be converted too!

What's on offer at Beautique?

Well first of all you get high quality service in one of the nicest buildings you could ask for.

However we offer the following treatments.
Gel Nails
Makeup application for all occasions using airbase foundation.
Manicure
Pedicure
Eyelash Extensions
Eyebrow Waxing and Tinting
Spray Tanning - My husbands favorite

We also retail some of the finest Swarovski strip lashes.

Hello

Hi everyone,

I have never blogged before so please be patient with me.

We are a Salon based in 9 Park Street Congleton, we only recently opened up and hopefully through the blog I can give you an incite as to what goes on in my salon and also some of the products that i use.

So don't worry this won't be some daily shameless plug although some of it will be :)

Anyway I am the owner of Beautique and  this whole running my own business is a very new experience for me my husband does what he can to help he Tweets for me sometimes at www.twitter.com/beautique2011, it was actually through twitter that we decided to do this, so sometimes my husband will be blogging for me as he also tweets occasionally for me which you might notice if you decide to follow.

In the salon we offer a range of treatments from Gel Nails to waxing I am not a hairdresser but a Nail Tech by trade but over the years extended my training to spray tanning, Waxing and Makeup application I try to use the best products I can for all my treatments and as part of the blog I will try and write up testimonials left by my customers if they don't object but also I will try and review the products i use in my salon from Airbase right through to Fake Bake and beyond so people will have an understanding of what i offer and also can have a good nosey at what people think of me and what I think of products on the market.

Well that's it my first Blog and i am not really sure it constitutes a Blog but i am running with it.

Thanks
